Satsuma Gyu beef is considered to be one of the most richly marbled and most appetizing streaks of fat a steak can have and is also the 1st place Wagyu Olympics Competition winner in Japan.

A major factor in the quality of Satsuma Gyu steaks is the uncompromising regulations the region uses for its cattle. Kagoshima is the largest beef producing prefecture in Japan, this region has temperate climate with plentiful grass land for raising cattle. To be labeled Satsuma Gyu, cattle must meet strict standards leading to only 3,000 head of cattle qualifying as authentic Satsuma Gyu cattle each year.
